All Cornelian Cherries offer an array of truly exotic flavors that simply cannot be found in any other fruit. It is complex, a mix of floral tones with the sourness of a cranberry. It is the original ingredient in a delicious Persian sorbet and many expensive european liquors like Maraschino di Zadar.

Seeds have been cold stratified saving you months of waiting if you were to do it yourself. Plant seeds at a shallow depth and wait. Cornus mas seeds are on their own time clock. Your seedlings will emerge over a time span of a few weeks to two years. Start some inside and plant the rest in a garden area you can keep an eye on for a while. They transplant easily. Super hardy to -25 degrees, once established these plants are extremely long lived and can produce up to 40lbs of fruit per year per plant.
Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and can grow in heavy clay soil. Suitable pH: acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils and can grow in very alkaline soils.
It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. Fruit production greatly improved in full sun and with more than one plant present. Cornelian Cherry plants prefer moist soil and is particularly easy to grow and disease resistant.
