The Nannyberry grows best under full sun to part shade. It cannot grow in soggy soils. Space plants 4-5 feet apart. It is a very hardy plant, tolerating temperatures down to about -25 degrees. The seed is best sown when the weather is mildly cold. Germination is slow and takes more than 18 months. They can be planted out in their permanent locations in late spring or early summer next year. In late winter you can prune them into shape.
